The Great Contrast

I got this blue orchid for my birthday and decided to make a pastel picture of it. In the meantime we left for 4 days, and by the time I returned to my painting my orchid changed… A usual problem you have painting from nature. I planned it as an interior painting, so the size is 75x55, and the background is made with golden Schmincke pastel. The orchid is a mix of Rembrandt , Unison and Sennelier pastels, but next time I will keep to Sennelier as it has the most clear and bright pigment. Or I also consider Pan pastel with its tenderness - it may be ideal for orchids. I am planning to make a double blue-gold frame with museum glass, and I think it will be really impressive!
